True to ourselves
To be true to ourselves
Throughout our journey in life, we go through different phases of personal development. It can take a long time, possibly years, to discover our true selves, and now is the moment to express that in the world. It's crucial for our words to originate from an authentic and genuine place. To ensure this, one of the most crucial actions is staying true to ourselves. Before anything else, we need to understand who we are, to trust ourselves and then acknowledge both to ourselves and to others, who we really, truthfully are.
Allow yourself a brief moment of contemplation. How often have you told a half-truth or slightly altered the truth to avoid a negative response or not get an ugly gaze? How about all the times you pretend to agree with someone just to fit in and feel accepted? The belief that it's safer to refrain from having an opinion often stems from experiences of parental or teacher disbelief, or encountering anger from others when speaking your truth.
If you're not fully authentic, you're not being true to yourself and may feel inadequate and can get a feeling of not being good enough. To gain confidence, honesty about your true self and feelings is essential. These are the truths that should not go unheard. To feel seen, you have to have truth in your words.
But what is really truth? A more precise question would be, 'Who can claim ownership of the truth?Personally, I think there is no such thing as the ultimate truth. As individuals, we all have our own subjectivity and perceive the world in our own unique ways. That is the reason we should never regard anything as the ultimate truth. Many people need to believe in the 'truth', but it's impossible to claim one thing as universally true.
The truth is subjective, since we are all unique individuals, and we will always be subjective. This subjectivity is a good thing. It's what makes us search in ourselves to figure out what is true for us, completely independent of what others might mean, what our parents told us or what our friends meant we should mean in our youth. It's only you that know what that truth is. Many ask others what they should do or choose, for example, and it is many who give advice. Some people seek guidance from tarot cards to get answers to questions about what they should do going forward, and it can feel comforting to get the advice from someone outside. But in the end, no one can tell you what is true for you.
Today, many people struggle to balance faith in science and medical science with a belief in energies and the alternative world. I find the term "complementary world" more fitting than "alternative world." Yes, our view is an alternative to science, but before Rene Descartes' time, no one asked questions about the Soul. Before Descartes, and even during Plato's time, philosophical writings discuss a non-physical world. Even Plato wrote about Atlantis, seen as a mythical society in modern times.
Nowadays, the world of complementary practices is diverse and has practitioners in various fields. It can be difficult to know which way is yours. Only you can know that. And only you can know if you want to go in that direction.
